USFMMA is proud to announce veteran ringside physician Dr Neal Frauwirth has joined our Medical Advisory Panel to help support the efforts toward national standards and safety within amateur MMA.
Dr. Frauwirth started his career in combat sports as a ringside physician and advisor to the newly formed California State Athletic Commission.
After moving to Tennessee, he co-wrote the Tennessee Athletic Commission Act. He testified in front of the state legislature regarding health and safety of combat sports. Governor Bredesen then appointed him as the inaugural Commissioner of the Tennessee State Athletic Commission. He also acted as medical advisor to then Director Jeff Mullen.
Dr. Frauwirth has also acted as a lead ringside physician for many events including UFC, Bellator MMA, Strikeforce, HBO and Showtime boxing as well as many others.
Dr Frauwirth is also an ABC certified MMA referee and judge.
