Will McCullough is a seasoned martial artist who began his martial arts training in 1978 and has since acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Mr. McCullough holds a 2nd degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate under the guidance of Robert Fabrey and a 2nd degree black belt in Matzukazi-Ryu Jujitsu under the mentorship of USMC MCMAP co-founder Cardo Urso.
During his 10-year service in the US Marine Corps, Mr. McCullough served as both a Senior Drill Instructor and Close Combat Instructor-Trainer at Parris Island, South Carolina and was directly responsible for the training of thousands of U.S. Marine Recruits in the art of hand-to-hand combat and self-defense.
In 1996, Mr. McCullough founded his martial arts school, initially known as “McCullough Submission Fighting,” in Beaufort, South Carolina. The school was endorsed by then UFC president, Mr. Art Davie, as a school-member of the “Ultimate Fighting Alliance.” Today, the school is still in operation under the name “Beaufort MMA” and is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) MMA training facilities in the state of South Carolina.
In recognition of his expertise and contribution to the martial arts community, Mr. McCullough was appointed to the South Carolina State Athletic Commission by Governor Nikki Haley in 2014 where he served as Chairman until his term ended in 2020, overseeing the regulation and safety of combat sports in the state.
Mr. McCullough is a devoted husband to his wife of 26 years, Deena, and they have two children, Keara and Cooper.
